Coding Hotline

MED-REC SYSTEMS’ coding hotline service is available to assist with CPT and ICD-9-CM coding and reimbursement questions. All questions are answered by AHIMA credentialed health information consultants.

Services include assistance with:

1. Claims denials
2. Correct modifier usage
3. Coding of operative notes
4. Reimbursement issues
5. Other questions related to the CPT and ICD-9 coding guidelines

Questions may be submitted via fax or phone. The response time for answering questions is within 24 hours, in most cases.

The services are billed on a per hour basis, with a minimum charge of thirty minutes for each coding question.
